Ko‘kaldosh Madrasa is one of the oldest and largest madrasas in Tashkent. It was built in the 16th century during the Shaybanid era.
The word “Ko‘kaldosh” means “the khan’s close friend or milk-brother.” At that time, the madrasa served as an important center of knowledge and religious education.
The architectural structure of the madrasa is especially impressive:
a large main portal (entrance gate)
an inner courtyard
student cells (hujras)
domed classrooms
Since Ko‘kaldosh Madrasa is located next to Chorsu Bazaar, tourists can visit both the market and this historical monument at the same time.
Today, the madrasa remains a living symbol of Tashkent’s history and an important destination for visitors.
📍 Address: Tashkent city, next to Chorsu Bazaar.
