The Zangi Ata Complex is one of the most famous historical and religious pilgrimage sites located in the Tashkent region. This complex is associated with the Sufi scholar and saint Zangi Ata, who lived in the 12th–13th centuries.
The word “Zangi” means “dark-colored.” Zangi Ata was one of the prominent representatives of the Khoja Ahmad Yassavi Sufi order and was highly respected among the people.
The complex was built during the reign of Amir Temur and later restored several times. Today, it includes:
the mausoleum of Zangi Ata
a mosque
a madrasa
a spacious courtyard and pilgrimage areas
